Resources Links tool

This feature must be enabled in Beta Features before it can be used.

The Resources Links tool is a Main Body tool that can be used to create a set of resource links made up of a combination of website links, uploaded files, and optional images. With this tool, there is no need to add a file to the File Library in order to link it, thereby saving several steps.

The Resources Links tool is an efficient way to add files for newsletters, policies, agendas, minutes, downloadable forms, etc. The optional RSS feed icon can be displayed to allow viewers to subscribe to the resource list.

Required Tool Settings

Display Type: If "Vertical list" is selected, the items in the tool will be displayed in a singular column. If "Grid is selected, the items will be displayed in two columns which is helpful for tools with many items and filling the width of the page.

Display RSS Graphic: If the box is checked, the RSS graphic will display above the tool allowing visitors to obtain the URL for the RSS feed.

RSS Title: By default, the RSS title will be the page title, but you can override this by entering your own RSS settings.

Tool Actions

1. Add Item: Choose to add an item to the top or bottom of the list.
2. Edit: Adjust Required Settings, including display type and RSS options.
3. RSS Feed: Displays the URL used to set up the RSS feed.

Tool Items

1. Move an item by dragging it to a new position within the tool.
2. Add an item after the selected item.
3. Edit the selected item.
4. Preview the selected item in a new tab.
5. Delete the selected item.

Add Item

After adding the Resources Links tool, select "Add Item" to add an item to the tool. Note that multiple items can be added to the tool.

Item Settings

1. Title: Enter a title for the item. This will be the text that displays on the page.
2. Position After: Controls the order of the item added to the tool. By default, the new item will be added to the top of the tool.
3. Type: Select the type of item you would like to add.
   • Text: This item will display as text only.
   • Link: This will create a link to the specified URL.
   • File: Upload and link to a file.
4. Visibility Status: Visible items will show on the page while hidden items will not show on the page.

Text Type Settings

1. Description: Add an optional description for the item.
2. Image: Add an image to display with the text. See the Image Display Options section for more information.

Link Type Settings

1. Title Tag: Add extra information about the link for accessibility, it should not be the same as the title.
2. Browser Window Type: Choose if the link will open in a new window or in the current window. The current window option should be used for linking to pages within your site while the new window option should be used for external pages.
3. Link Address: Paste the URL that you would like the item to link to.
4. Description: Add an optional description for the item.
5. Image: Add an image to display with the link. See the Image Display Options section for more information.

File Type Settings

1. Description: Add an optional description for the item.

Image Display Options

Images added to an item can be displayed in two different ways, as a regular image above the item text or as an "Icon" resized and to the left of the item text.
