The tool migration feature makes it possible to convert existing Text/Graphic Editor tools into their new and improved counterpart, Content Editor tools, without changing their appearance on the page.
How-To
To use the tool migration feature, first find a page with a Text/Graphic Editor and/or Right Side Text/Graphic Editor and select "Migrate Tools" in the Actions bar.
*Important Note: In order for the Migrate Tools button to appear in the Actions bar it needs to be activated. This can be done in the Beta Features section under Utilities. See the Beta Features page for instructions.
This will show a list of tool migrations possible for this page. Click the dropdown arrow to see all of the tools of that type on the page. Select "MIGRATE" to begin the pre migration process.
Steps to Complete Migration
- Summary: The migration summary gives important information about the migration process of the Text/Graphic Editor to the new Content Editor. After reading click next to move to the next step.
-
New Field Data: The Content Editor has a different image sizing system than the Text/Graphic Editor. If any of the tools getting migrated contain an image their tool ID and visibility status will appear in step 2 where their size can be set by selecting an image width. After completing the new field data click next to move to the final step.
-
Migrate: By this step, the tools are ready to be migrated. Read the information on the page and then select:
. In many cases the migration will only take a few seconds, but depending on the number of tools and the amount of content on each page it may take longer. Navigating away from this page while migration is occurring will not hinder the process.
Note: Migration of a tool can only be run once, so any edits made after migration should be done on the new Content Editor tool.
After Migration
After migration is complete, a Migration Summary will be available in the same Migrate Tools section. It will contain migration start and completion times as well as the tool IDs of the migrated tools.
The new Content Editor tools will appear under the original Text/Graphic Editor and be marked as hidden. This is so the new tool can be checked for accuracy and edited accordingly before deleting the old tool. After the Content Editor has been reviewed the visibility status can be changed to visible using the tool settings button on the top right corner of the tool: . The Text/Graphic Editor can then be marked as Hidden or deleted.
