Resource/News tool

The Resource/News tool a Main Body and Sidebar tool that can be used to create a set of resource links made up of a combination of website links or uploaded files. The advantage of using this tool is the ability to browse directly to the files for upload. There is no need to add the file to the File Uploads thereby saving several steps.

The Resource/News tool is an efficient way to add files for newsletters, policies, agendas, minutes, downloadable forms, etc. The optional RSS feed icon can be displayed to allow viewers to subscribe to the resource list.

Tool Options

Tool Actions

1. Add Item: Choose to add an item to the top or bottom of the list. See the Add Item section below for more information.
2. Move Items: Move item(s) to a different tool. Note that this will allow you to move items from the Main Body to the Sidebar and vice versa. See the Move Items section below for more information.
3. RSS Settings: Adjust the RSS Title and choose if the RSS option is available for visitors. See the RSS Settings section below for more information.
4. View RSS Feed: Displays the URL used to set up the RSS feed.

Tool Items

5. Item Title: Displays the title of the items within the tool.
6. Item Type & Visibility: Displays the item type (Text, File, or Website Link) and if the item is Visible or Hidden.
7.  Move the item up or down within the tool. 
8.  Add an item after the selected item.
9.  Edit the selected item
10.  Delete the selected item.
11.  Preview the selected item in a new tab.

Add Item

After adding the Resource/News tool the Main Body or Sidebar, select "Add Item" to add an item to the tool. Note that multiple items can be added to the tool.

Required Settings

1. Title: Enter a title for the item. This will be the text that displays on the page.
2. Order After: Controls the order of the item added to the tool. By default, the new item will be added to the top of the tool.
3. Type: Select the type of item you would like to add.
   • Text: This item will display as text only.
   • Website Link: This will create a link to the specified URL.
   • File: Upload and link to a file.
4. Visibility Status: Visible items will show on the page while hidden items will not show on the page.

Text Type Settings

1. Description: Add an optional description for the item.

Website Link Type Settings

1. Description: Add an optional description for the item.
2. Website Link Address: Past the URL that you would like the item to link to.
3. Browser Window Type: Choose if the link will open in a new window or in the current window. The current window option should be used for linking to pages within your site while the new window option should be used for external pages.

File Type Settings

1. Description: Add an optional description for the item.
2. File: Use the Choose File button to select a file or drag and drop a file there to upload it.

Move Items

The move item option allows you to move existing Resource/News items to a different Resource/News tool. This allows you to combine content, divide content, and move content from the main body to the sidebar. 

In the tool with the content you would like to move, select the Move Items option.

Choose the new location for the Resource/News items, select which items to move, and select Save to move the item(s).

After saving, the item moved from the current tool to the selected tool.

RSS Settings

1. By default, the RSS title will be the page title, but you can override this by entering your own RSS settings.
2. Display RSS Graphic: If yes is selected, the RSS graphic will display above the tool allowing visitors to obtain the URL for the RSS feed.
